Have you ever tried to get your dog’s attention? But you failed and all your effort faded away. Or may be your dog got your attention and listens to you or understands what you want. But for sure any dog has a hidden intelligence and us as owners we have an obligatory duty to improve and develop his hidden intelligence, so that in any critical situation our dog could pay attention to us and listen to us in a very simple manner.
SO, in this article I will explain the 5 simple tips which can be applied to any dog by anybody to help your dog become very attentive and also how you can improve your dog’s focus.
1. Brain training
Those games of brain training of dogs are well designed and really effective for developing your dog’s attentive behavior. One of my top favorite is “the airplane game” which is totally free. By applying this game, the following skills could be learned by your dog:
- Pay attention to you whenever you command it.
- It will obey you, by focusing to you despite any distractions which lead to super obedience.
- Your dog will start learn how to use his hidden intelligence to solve out puzzles.
2. The “Smacking Sound”
It is really wonderful that, there was a noise we could make at any time in order to get our dog instantly pays attention to us which is known as a smacking sound. But before we can manipulate it, we must to teach our dog that this specific sound is equal to food.
To implement this technique, we need a little quite environment, so that we make the smacking sound and even if it looks like we kissing the air, then immediately give him a treat. And don’t care what he is doing when you give him a treat unless he is doing bad thing like tearing up the sofa.
3. The Power of Incentives
The incentives could be different types, but food reward are the most common and applicable incentive in dog training. So incentives are given to a dog whenever he performs a task which is given to him. For example, if we started teaching our dog to sit for the first time. When he does it successfully we must pay his reward in the form of giving him a doggy biscuit or a piece of kibble. Now, the next time when we ask him to sit, he will be eager to do so, because he knows he will get something tasty for his effort.
4. Reward Voluntary Checks-Ins
Whenever you are out in the yard, make it as a routine to bring with you high value treats such as plain cooked chicken slices. Off course you should handle it in a pocket or treat bag. Now every time your dog tries to walk a little far from you, praise him and offer him a treat. Doing this for enough time, positive reinforcement will be planted in his mind, and you will observe that your dog is always checking in with you more and more. And that is what we want, which is he is learning that your more worthy of his attention.
5. Right Place Right Time
One of the most important thing in dog training, you must know and choose the right place and right time to begin training sessions for your dog for maximum result in order your dog be able to pay full attention to you.
As much as you can try to avoid train your dog when you first come home from work, because he is missed you and excited to greet you. Secondly try to avoid training him after meal, because he wants to bounce of the walls. Instead you should wait until he comes down and be more focusing and try to manipulate those times as much as you can.
The Brain Training for Dogs Program introduce you with different mechanisms which you can apply to stop giving your dog a treat every time he successfully did a certain action as well as how to reward him in other different forms.
