Over the past few months, fashion enthusiasts have been spoiled for choice with a plethora of shows to binge, from Cristóbal Balenciaga to The New Look.
Coming to Hulu on June 7 (and Disney+ for viewers worldwide) is the much-anticipated mini-series “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld.” According to its synopsis, the series delves deep into the 70s scene of Paris, Monaco, and Rome, tracing the remarkable rise of this enigmatic and iconic figure of Parisian couture, driven by his ambition to become the fashion Emperor. The role of the late German designer will be portrayed by Daniel Brühl.
Spanning six episodes, the series portrays Lagerfeld as a ready-to-wear designer, still unknown to the broader public. As he encounters and falls for Jacques de Bascher (played by Théodore Pellerin), the most enigmatic of fashion designers dares to challenge Yves Saint Laurent (Arnaud Valois). “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld” offers a fresh narrative, adapted from the book “Kaiser Karl” by Raphaëlle Bacqué.
