Sinema Came To Her Senses And Realized People Are Taking Advantage Of Our Asylum Process
Sen. Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) shot to stardom because of her progressive values and ability to win in a red state. Sinema made a surprising move when she joined a handful of Republican Senators and Joe Manchin (D-WV), who wrote a letter to President Donald Trump encouraging him to implant a pilot program designed to weed out fake asylum seekers. The goal is to deport those who arent truly in fear of their lives and have valid asylum claims without adding to the immigration backlog.
"This pilot program would apply to families who aren't claiming 'credible fear,' which of course is the first threshold in seeking asylum," Sinema told The Arizona Republic. "If someone says 'I left my country because I can't make a living,' (or) 'it's hard to take care of my family' that's what we call an economic migrant."

Or maybe internal polling suggested to her that perhaps a more public hard line on the border issue was needed to get re-elected... ... and then just continue to support the democrat subversion efforts afterwards.
Yep she’s a Democrat but seems like she’s not a sheeple. Hope she keeps it up. Better than McLame and Better than Flaky, also from AZ. In the clip, Sinema is seen standing and applauding Trump while all her fellow Democrats near her sit stone-faced and not applauding. Rosen slowly stands up right next to Sinema and with a sideways glance appears to mutter, Watch your ass, at Sinema, then sternly looks away. Sinema acknowledges Rosen with a defiant nod and stays standing.
I wouldn't care to vouch for her sincerity but Arizona is right on the firing line on this issue and the former Dem position that it's all an imaginary crisis simply isn't tenable anymore. Blaming Trump isn't fooling anyone. It may be too late for her approach, because vetting with a finer tooth comb doesn't address the mess they've already made. Stabilize that and we can talk. Build the wall.
This brings up an interesting idea. She’s an Arizonan, and thus very different from her colleagues since she knows firsthand how bad things are at the border. Perhaps our House and Senate could be divided into “conferences” like college sports — Southwest Conference, Northeast Conference, etc., — which would decide issues related to the various regions of the country. It galls me no end, for example, to hear some smug New York pol pontificating about land use in the West when he’s never been further west than Chicago. Similarly, why is some Oregon representative voting on a bill impacting steel workers in Michigan? The full House and Senate could of course vote on truly national issues, but it seems like regional issues should be left to the regional representatives who actually understand them.
Or maybe internal polling suggested to her that perhaps a more public hard line on the border issue was needed to get re-elected... ... and then just continue to support the democrat subversion efforts afterwards. Her current stance is all kabuki theater. She’s for it now, because it has no real traction in the House. If it gains traction in the House, she’ll be loudly against it. And her base won’t remember a thing otherwise and if anyone says anything, they’ll just be racists.
