Waveland State Historic Site is also named Joseph Bryan House in Lexington, Kentucky. It's the site of the site of a Greek Revival house and 10 acres that are now being maintained and managed by the Kentucky state parks system. It was home to the Joseph Bryan family, their descendants, as well as the slaves they took in the 18th century. Bryan's father William had been friends with Daniel Boone and they migrated west through the Cumberland Gap. William's great-grandson, Joseph Bryan, was an early planter, and began an agricultural enterprise that grew tobacco and hemp as commodity crops. He also began to breed thoroughbred race horses. This area was home to both the horseman and the settler.
