Rimowa and Tiffany & Co. Join Forces in Exciting Collaboration - 4 minutes read

The special three-piece collection features an exclusive “Rock-Cut” design and eye-catching accents in Tiffany Blue.

This fall, Rimowa, the luxury luggage manufacturer based in Cologne, is making its way to New York for a captivating collaboration with Tiffany & Co., bringing a touch of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” to their latest three-piece series in iconic Tiffany blue. The special collection is undeniably Tiffany & Co., instantly recognizable by the elegant fusion of Rimowa’s signature aluminum craftsmanship with Tiffany & Co.’s distinctive Robin Egg Blue, reminiscent of select pieces from the renowned jeweler’s inventory and other noteworthy collaborations, such as the legendary Tiffany Blue Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711, the final piece in its esteemed lineage.

The first glimpses of this collaboration between the two prestigious houses are sleek, playful, and exhilarating. Beyond the striking Tiffany blue accents on the leather and felt interiors, handles, luggage tags, and wheels, the aluminum-brushed bodies feature a unique “Rock Cut” design, artfully mimicking the surface of a diamond – a respectful nod from one luxury icon to another. This trio comprises a single cabin suitcase and a versatile vanity-cum-jewelry case, both crafted in aluminum, and a compact polycarbonate jewelry case adorned in Tiffany blue.

Seasoned Collaborators

This collaboration marks just one of many in the portfolio of the Manhattan-based jeweler, which has explored an array of luxury partnerships, ranging from limited art pieces with the American contemporary artist Daniel Arsham to one-of-a-kind designs like the diamond-titanium “Crown of Thorns,” created exclusively for the leading hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar’s performances. Rimowa, too, is no stranger to collaborations, having engaged in its fair share over the years with esteemed partners like Moncler and Porsche, to name a few.

Since its acquisition by LVMH in 2016, Rimowa has embarked on more contemporary, avant-garde collaborations, aligning with the broader strategy of the luxury fashion conglomerate to reach a wider audience. Thus, a collaboration between Rimowa and Tiffany & Co. seems almost inevitable, especially given that LVMH acquired the jeweler in 2021. Alexandre Arnault, a second-generation Arnault executive, has expressed his personal connection to both brands, describing the collaboration as a source of excitement for him.

A Design with Meaning

Rimowa’s deliberate creation of jewelry cases for this collaboration with Tiffany & Co. feels entirely fitting, yet the underlying implications of the design choices extend beyond the surface. While these jewelry cases are certainly versatile for small objects, they embody a profound sense of opulence in reserving cabin space for one’s jewelry – an aspirational luxury that this collaboration captures so exquisitely.

The Rimowa x Tiffany & Co. Jewellery Case is made to safeguard treasured pieces at home or during travel, spanning three modular levels.

The choice to cast aluminum in the likeness of diamonds is a layered design decision, considering Rimowa’s historical association with aluminum dating back to the 1930s. At that time, a factory fire destroyed most of their products, leaving only aluminum as a viable material. Hence, the “Rock Cut” design serves as a dual metaphor, symbolizing both the partnership with a storied jeweler and Rimowa’s commitment to crafting enduring luxury luggage. It is within these thoughtful design choices that the success of luxury collaborations often lies. A meaningful collaboration must not only offer value but also convey a compelling message.

The Rimowa x Tiffany & Co. collaboration is scheduled for release later this month, both in select Rimowa stores worldwide and online, commencing on September 26th. The Rock Cut Cabin will be available for S$4,870, the Jewelry Case for S$6,550, and the Jewelry Personal for S$3,020. This promises to be an exciting fusion of craftsmanship, elegance, and enduring luxury.
