Huawei registers Harmony moniker for its mobile OS

President  Donald Trump had earlier in June eased the restrictions that prohibit US firms from dealing with Huawei. Companies have since reportedly started getting clearance from the commerce department that grants them the pass to deal with Huawei. However, Huawei still isn’t giving up on going ahead with its Homemade OS. The OS has been in the making for quite a few years. But only recently gained public attention following the company’s ordeal with the US authorities.

The OS arrives pretty soon, but we aren’t sure of the marketing name of the OS. Huawei earlier patented  HongMeng OS, for use in its domestic market of China at least. Though some reports point to the Ark moniker for the global market.

Huawei hasn’t really been vocal when it comes to the name of the OS, however, a fresh patent application makes us think the brand is considering adopting the Harmony OS for the global market. The company has asked the European Union Intellectual Property to secure the Harmony moniker. The filing is for mobile devices and computers in the EU.

The filing only arrived at the patent office on July 12th, and so it is still under considerations. Should the application be granted, that will raise the total number of trademarked monikers to 4 including HongMeng, Ark, Oak, and now Harmony.

Huawei has yet to reveal any official info relating to the supposed Huawei Harmony OS, though Ren Zhengfei, Huawei’s founder and CEO recently revealed that the OS will be faster than Android.
