Theresa May boogies to Dancing Queen at Henley Festival

Theresa May let her hair down by throwing some shapes to Dancing Queen on a busy weekend for the outgoing prime minister.

Mrs May was spotted dancing to the Abba hit – her walk-on music at the Tory Party conference last year – as performed by tribute band Bjorn Again at Henley Festival.

She was earlier spotted in the grandstand, enjoying the music and dancing to other hits including Mamma Mia and Take A Chance.

Mrs May and her husband Philip were attending the festival near her Maidenhead constituency on Saturday evening.

The Prime Minister has spent her last weeks in office enjoying a number of high profile social events, and had been spotted at Wimbledon to see the women’s singles final earlier in the day.

Today she made an appearance at Lord’s Cricket Ground to watch England take on New Zealand in the final of the men’s Cricket World Cup.

Mrs May’s moves became a subject of media focus after she twice danced in front of the cameras on a trip to South Africa and Kenya last summer.

The Prime Minister has previously been criticised for having a cold and robotic persona, which earnt her the nickname 'Maybot'. 

In a nod to the media reaction, she boogied her way on stage to Dancing Queen at the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham later that year.

Mrs May has a little over a week remaining as Prime Minister before handing over to either Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt, the two remaining candidates in contest to replace her as Tory leader.
