Puerto Rican Steven Joel Moreno ratified his world number 1 ranking by proclaiming himself champion of the individual U-13 category of the WTT Youth Contender Metz, which is being held in France from February 14 to 20, 2022.
On the way to the title of champion in the initial group round robin phase where a total of 38 players participated, he beat Frenchman Axel Bossis 3-1 and Syrian Rusath Wickramasi 3-0.
Then in the single elimination phase in the 1st round he got a bye, in the 2nd. he beat the Italian Danilo Dmitri Faso 3-0 this was the champion of the past Contender in Spa Belgium, in the quarterfinals he beat the representative of the Czech Republic Jan Skalda 3-1, in the semifinals he beat another representative of the Czech Republic Jakub Kabelka 3 -0 and in the final he defeated the Romanian representative Robert Alexandru Istrate 3-1 with scores of 11-8, 11-8, 7-11 and 12-10.
38 players from 19 countries participated in this category: Austria, Belgium, Slovakia, Spain, France, India, England, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. .
