Oh my! To be able to have all of Dr Maya Angelou's poetry in one book-what a blessing.<br />The collection celebrates different topics and the variety is welcome.<br />Her style and use of poetic form is spectacular. This woman can make us cry,reduce us to despair and garner our minds and abilities to target ourselves to be the best that we all can be."Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,I am the dreams and the hopes of the slave,I rise, I rise,I rise."<br />The culmination of this collection in those celebrated pieces written for a presidential inauguration as well as those pieces for Nelson Mandela-on his passing, and for the 60th birthday of Oprah Winfrey who she was so close to and was praised in their relationship as feeling like mother and daughter.<br />This is a book to keep close and dip into again and again. Enjoy.
