Wimbledon EXCLUSIVE: Caroline Wozniacki discusses 'stress-free' wedding and big family plans
She married the former NBA star David Lee in an intimate ceremony at Castiglion del Bosco in the province of Siena in Tuscany, Italy just two weeks ago.
And, in an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Caroline Wozniacki, 28, revealed that her new husband, 36, decided to stay on their mini-moon in Portofino, Italy, while she went back to work ahead of Wimbledon.
While at the Dubai Duty Free WTA (Women's Tennis Association) Summer Party 2019 at Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London on Friday, the tennis star also gushed about their 'stress-free' wedding and revealed she is hoping to have a 'big family' with David - but not just yet.
With Wimbledon taking place just weeks after their nuptials, Caroline explained: 'We went on a mini-moon for a couple of days right after the wedding. We went on a boat.'
The tennis ace also revealed that her new husband stayed on their mini-moon with a group of friends, while she left to dive straight back into training for the oldest and arguably the most prestigious tennis event in the world.
When asked how David felt about her going back to work so soon after their wedding, she laughed as she admitted: 'He was thrilled about it. He was like "I'm gonna stay on the boat a few more days with my friends," so he did that and he just arrived in London on Thursday.'
'And obviously Wimbledon is such an amazing tournament. So I think, if I had to start working somewhere, this is the place to be.'
And while there is no time at present for the newlyweds to celebrate their marriage with a long holiday, Caroline revealed that, as yet, they have no plans set in stone for a 'proper honeymoon'.
She said: 'We're gonna probably do a proper honeymoon after the season, so in November. But nothing's been planned as yet.'
Aside from planning a 'proper honeymoon,' the one-time Grand Slam champion revealed that she is planning on travelling as much of possible with her new husband, before they look at having children.
Caroline explained: 'I wanna play as long as I feel like it, and then one day start a family and settle down and kinda do our own thing.
'I definitely want to have just a bit of time just the two of us, because once you have a child things change.
'So, I just want to enjoy us and travel a bit and see the world without having to go somewhere, but going just because we want to go and explore.
The tennis superstar also revealed that she hopes for a 'big' family with husband David, but is also highly aware that her desires may change after they have their first child.
'I think in my head I would like a big family but I think it's always tough to say before you have any kids, right? You don't really know,' laughed Caroline.
Speaking about their recent wedding day, Caroline gushed: 'It was amazing, we had the best time. It was absolutely perfect. It was the way we wanted it to be.
'I was very involved, but honestly it was very stress-free because we had amazing planners and they did an incredible job so I didn't have to worry.'
Indeed, every detail was planned to perfection - right down to the soles of her bespoke Jimmy Choo shoes.
When quizzed about whether she indulged in the 'something old, something new' tradition for her wedding she revealed she had done so in a very unique, and very showbiz way.
Caroline said: 'I had something blue: I had Jimmy Choo make my wedding shoe, and I asked if they could do a blue bottom for me, because we designed the shoe together.
'And so I had a blue bottom, which is the first time they'd ever done that, which was really cool.
'Something borrowed was my jewellery. Something new was my dress. And something old was... I guess my engagement ring I suppose?'
As they begin to enjoy life as newlyweds, the 5'8" beauty insisted that married life wouldn't be a distraction for her on court - in fact she explained succinctly how being married makes things 'easier on the court.'
She reasoned: 'I think married life just means that everything at home is good and great, and that makes it easier on the court when you know home life settled and taken care of.'
'I'm so competitive and I love what I do, so I'm just thrilled to be out here and playing,' added the tennis star.
While Caroline spends the next few months touring the world competing in various tennis tournaments, she revealed that her retired NBA-player husband won't always be by her side.
'He doesn't come everywhere because he has his own things going on. He just started a reinsurance business with his brother-in-law so they have meetings and stuff.
'So he's busy with that, and he's also kind of an ambassador for the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors as well. So he does a few things with them. He has quite a few things happening.'
Despite almost-constant travel, the loved-up couple ensure that they keep their romance alive, in the most simple way.
Caroline admitted: 'Honestly, I think we just take time for each other. Date nights and kind of take time where we don't think about anything else and just enjoy each other.'
The ultimate romancer, David proposed after whisking Caroline off on a sunset cruise during a vacation to Bora Bora in November 2017 - 18 months before they tied the knot.
Caroline spoke to MailOnline at Morrocanoil for the Dubai Duty Free WTA (Women's Tennis Association) Summer Party 2019 at Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London on Friday.
The WTA was founded by Billie Jean King in 1973 and kicks off the start of Wimbledon every year with a star-studded event, with Moroccanoil doing female attendees' hair.
Caroline said: 'I think every woman likes to look good. And I'm on court all of the time with my hair up and no make-up, so it's nice to wear a nice dress and wear my hair down and feel glamorous.
'Since I was a little girl I loved fashion, I loved dressing up. I loved looking at clothes and dresses and pairing stuff up. It's always been fun to me.'
The tennis star revealed that her ultimate style crush is Blake Lively and admitted that looking good on court helps her to focus on the game at hand.
Caroline said: 'Blake Lively. I always really loved her. Not only does she look amazing, but she always dresses great. I heard she actually dresses herself, she doesn't use a stylist most of the time.
'Mostly I dress myself but I use a stylist for some events. For my on-court outfits, I used to work with Stella McCartney. Anything with Stella I've had a big say in so it's been so much fun.
'Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand, because if you don't feel good you're not gonna play well.
'It's important that you feel comfortable out there on court as well as knowing that's everything is the way it should be.
