An Ultimate Design Scenario of One Project for Social Networking App Development - 6 minutes read
Our expertise ranges from countless small and big-scale projects, including a face for startups, apps for influential organizations, and unique mobile application development. We are prepared to accept all types of RFPs.
But occasionally, we come across requests that make us stop and think about specific design-related challenges because of their unusual but charitable approach to achieving a result that accurately reflects the client's vision for its creation.
One such charitable customer was a sizable social organization that wanted to assist drug addicts and asked us for social networking app development that would act as a platform for encouraging drug users to give up their habits and seek a healthier lifestyle.
The idea behind this social media platform's creation was to provide users with a way to meet new people, interact with them and hear about their experiences, draw inspiration from one another, and even engage in a few hobbies they have in common to divert their attention away from drugs.
Undoubtedly, it was a piece of cake for us, but behind the surface, there were specific design risks that our talented team overcame with innovation and research.
Simplicity
Problem
Because drug addicts were the target demographic for this app, more care had to be taken to avoid offending them.
There is a straightforward reason for it –even if we experience it –if you are under pressure and come across an unclear user interface, you will undoubtedly get upset and close it. This was the case with the app's target consumers since they are not prone to complicated thoughts, and using the app may set them off, enrage them, and cause them never to use it again.
Designing a difficult or distracting app would be a significant no-no due to their compromised eyesight, frequent mood swings, and lack of patience.
Our Approach
Making the user interface as straightforward and comprehensive as feasible was our priority while addressing design issues in the creation of social networking apps. For easy usage, each element was required to have a definition that was straightforward and related to its function. We can keep consumers interested for a reasonably long period if they find it simpler to discover and navigate.
We enrolled a few items here and embraced them.
- For a more precise understanding, choose typefaces that are larger and bolder.
- A soft color palette that might be pleasing to the eye
- Negative space to draw attention to the crucial components
- Images to improve the connection and make it more enjoyable
- Every function remains easily accessible and clickable.
Branding
Problem
The organization's requirement, as well as the necessity of today, is that branding be integrated with an app. Furthermore, it is undeniable that the brand name counts and must be connected to every platform that might represent the company's face in the future.
As a substantial social organization, they anticipated that their brand fragrance would also remain consistent on their app.
The audience is already in a sensitive frame of mind; therefore, our sole issue was whether or not they were used to the branding methods being used on the app.
Overusing branding may result in UI design complexity, impairing the attention of drug users who, in any event, will only engage briefly.
Our Approach
By cleverly integrating our branding strategies into the UI design, we resolved the branding problem and prevented their brand value from declining.
We maintained the organization's reputation for excellence by taking care of a few items.
- Since we strictly adhered to their brand guidelines, the app's logo and icons perfectly captured the company's spirit.
- The app's color scheme was kept consistent with the brand's aesthetic.
- We discussed including characters and emotions that may communicate the brand's social message when we created the app for a charitable organization.
- Consistency was maintained throughout the app design to portray a consistent brand image.
- A brief but precise value proposition phrase should be placed next to the logo to explain the app's accurate vision.
- The sort of company or organization determines the design's tone, and since this is a social organization, we wanted a warm and comforting manner.
- We aimed to illustrate each organization's uniqueness by combining the design as mentioned above components and methods.
Colors
Problem
Whether in the actual world or any platform, colors significantly impact how our minds are influenced to produce a range of feelings. Warm colors elicit hostility, a surge of emotions, faster heartbeats, and a sense of defiance against everyone. Colors are a minor design issue for our imaginative designers when creating social media apps. In this case, we must remember that we are making a social networking app for drug addicts.
We aimed to create a list of colors that may prevent mental agitation, which could lead to any manic behavior, for addicted persons while keeping this psychological truth in mind.
Our Approach
After doing some research, we decided to use cold colors, choosing the blue side of the color wheel, which includes blue, purple, and green. In order to make it seem both beautiful and dynamic, we decided to stick with a color scheme of only three.
- In order to solve the problem of choosing colors for this social networking app, our job was to use cool colors since they are supported to be soothing and relieve tension.
- Warm colors like red, orange, and yellow frequently excite drug addicts; thus, our design's use of cool colors may keep them calm and hold on for longer.
- The design issues that emerge during social media app creation are not exclusive to that field; they also occur throughout the website and software development.
Consistency
Problem
This app's user population struggled with irrational thinking and lack of focus; therefore, delivering information to their minds requires a consistent method or approach.
User interaction, focus, and experience were crucial design considerations in social networking app development.
Only by maintaining consistency in the design will we be able to prevent app users from becoming dependent on it. When they see anything strange or different, they find it difficult to understand the new perspective and may get irate.
Our Approach
So that it can be rapidly mastered with the least amount of work and they can use the whole program effortlessly, we chose to maintain the consistent design a little more naturally and utilized primary language.
- It is similar to teaching a youngster the alphabet; comprehending the alphabet might result in understanding words and phrases.
- Therefore, if you educate the audience on the fundamental components of the app, such as shapes, layouts, icons, etc., they will be able to navigate the whole app easily.
- This was fine with design issues in the development of social networking apps, right? One of the fundamentals that we constantly adhere to is this.
Conclusion
The result will undoubtedly woo you after you overcome all of the tiny and significant hurdles, and sure, that is what happened to us. Our greatest delight comes from our client's contentment.
