Gadgets have seen the splurge in the tech enthusiasts since the start of 80’s or 90’s. We have seen the base version of all the smart devices we use today. From cell phones to flip phones and gaming stations, the 90’s generation has seen the rise of every tech the Gen Z kids might not even know existed.
We will take you all on a short trip of nostalgia with which you have played at least once in your childhood. You might have owned one or all of them for sure, but this is going to be a eye-opener for the people who might have never heard of these amazing devices introduced way before, they knew.
So, let us get started with the old tech deck of devices once known as “smart” devices.

Retro Gadgets
Nostalgia is one of the best feelings we all could relate to. It might be discussing old memories with friends, or remembering something that we have been a part of for a long time. These gadgets will take you back in time in your teenage for sure:
Game boy
If you are a fan of Pokemon and didn’t know about Game boy, then it is time you brush up the fundamentals. Nintendo launched its first portable gaming console, the Game Boy, way back in 1989. It was a 8 bit gaming console with only 2 operational keys, and one direction button. ALthough the graphics were not as impressive as SEGA, or NEC but still ended up selling out like hot cakes. Thanks to its impressive battery life. Portable gaming was first introduced by Nintendo, and even today you will see a huge fan following for this bad boy.
The Walkman
We all love to listening to music. Nowadays we have smartphones to take care of all our music needs with so many streaming apps at our disposal. But the liberty of listening to music was very limited long back. But then, Sony came up with a revolutionary product known as the Walkman. They had a little tape that you can insert inside the walkman and use earphones to listen to your music on the go. It was powered by AA sized batteries. It does everything a stereo does, but all on-the-go. And since then, people started grooving to their favorite songs on the streets.
Nokia Communicator 9500i
Nokia introduced Symbian OS in way back in 2004 and since then it delivered top-end phones of their time. Nokia was once the top mobile manufacturing company in the world, and you can confirm this from anyone at any corner of the world. Nokia Communicator 9500i was introduced as the first phone to have Symbian operating system. It was known to be a powerful phone at that time, so much, that it could replace a low-end laptop. It had a 640×200 foldable screen and 970 mAh battery. It had a dual screen, WiFi, GPRS, and EDGE support which was way better than any other phone of the time. So, if you are too intrigued with the dual-screen setup in 2020, it is probably because Nokia made it possible around 16 years ago.
The First ever Mac – 1984
Apple came up with the Macintosh for the first time in 1984. It sported a 9-inch display, 3.5-inch floppy drive and 128k of RAM. This might sound like a very small package for a desktop computer, but back in 1984, something this sophisticated was worshiped by the tech enthusiasts and Steve Jobs brought this system in the world. It also came with MacPaint and MacWrite word processor to perform small writing jobs.
Classic iPOD
Apple introduced the first iPod to the world in 2001 with a mechanical navigator and small screen to navigate through different folders and play your favorite music. It was just a MP3 player like any other, but it was by Apple, and hence the fancy name. But there was no Apple Music till 2003, and therefore you had to add music from online sources or CDs in the iPod. Here are a few retro gadgets that you might have used, saw, wished to own one, and still somewhere feel that they are better than the latest smart devices.
