Until this next exclusive collection, master milliner Stephen Jones, a specialist in working with denim, is ready to unveil with G-Star RAW. The collaboration of the two legends results in a capsule collection of five haute couture hat pieces and two ready-to-wear limited editions. The limited edition and ready-to-wear pieces will be available beginning December 1, 2022, while the couture pieces will be available beginning November 22, 2022.

Each of the five couture ensembles demonstrates the competence of both colleagues in their respective disciplines. Jones has worked with Dior, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, and Thom Browne, as well as Lady Gaga, Rihanna (who wore a Pope hat at the Met Gala), Madonna, Mick Jagger, and even the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Bringing his years of experience, Jones elevates denim items from G-Star RAW developed in collaboration with him to a new level where workmanship is the cornerstone of the capsule collection. Since its start in 1989, G-Star Raw has been a supplier of denim items. The firm is known as a “hardcore denim” champion because of its unwavering attention to the cloth, the craft, the culture, and the history of denim, which is reflected in its creative processes.

Motifs for this capsule collection are inspired by Jones’ previous couture shows, and you can expect to see supersized hats in denim with elaborate designs typical with the domain of haute couture. Furthermore, the two ready-to-wear hat designs, a bucket hat and a baseball hat, are inspired by iconic streetwear trends. Both have become enduring icons, with numerous luxury fashion businesses referencing them.

“Everybody around the world knows what denim is and what denim signifies. I took denim out of its comfort zone and made it what it wasn’t. G-Star gave me complete carte blanche,” says Stephen Jones about his collaboration with G-Star RAW.

A short documentary on the famous milliner’s workshop in Covent Garden, London, is included with this release. According to the press announcement, ” The film will not only provide a unique view into his atelier, creative process, and ground-breaking designs, but will also provide a peek of his rebellious history and standing within the high fashion industry.” “And it appears that Jones’ anarchist mindset is once again pushing the boundaries of denim design, transforming denim streetwear into Haute Couture.” While the audience learns about the designer’s life and how he grew to be the great milliner he is today.”
