From Cape Town to Cairo: PJ Morton Drops New Album and Single ‘Simunye (We Are One)’ - 2 minutes read

R&B/Soul sensation PJ Morton has just dropped exciting news about his upcoming album, “Cape Town To Cairo,” set to hit the shelves on June 14th via Morton Records / Empire.

This album is the result of PJ’s incredible journey across four African countries — South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt — where he created music in just 30 days. PJ describes this adventure as the best trip of his life, one that blossomed from a simple idea into his most inspired record yet. With no preconceived notions, PJ dove into the continent with a mission to immerse himself in its diverse cultures and communities while writing and recording his LP.

Collaborating with talented artists like Fireboy DML, Mádé Kuti, Asa, Ndabo Zulu, and Soweto Spiritual Singers, alongside producers P.Priime and The Cavemen, PJ used music as a universal language. Each song on the album was crafted spontaneously, reflecting his authentic experiences in Africa and showcasing the region’s native genres.

Today, PJ also releases “Simunye (We Are One)” featuring Soweto Spiritual Singers, in celebration of South Africa’s 30th Year of Freedom Day. Additionally, he announces the Cape Town to Cairo Tour across North America this summer and fall, with over 25 dates nationwide.

But that’s not all — PJ Morton will also unveil his new memoir titled Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, arriving on November 12th. In this book, PJ reflects on his groundbreaking journey, navigating the complexities of music, faith, race, and identity. Get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey with PJ Morton as he shares his incredible story with the world.
