In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Neha Ranglani, an integrative nutritionist and health coach, said, “Reversing cancer through diet is as simple as eating food grown on a plant and not grown on a plant.”Foods to prevent cancer:According to Neha Ranglani, the more we eat healthy, less processed foods, the faster we starve cancer cells. Foods containing carcinogens, such as pickles, processed meat, refined flour, genetically modified foods, hydrogenated oil, microwave popcorn, potato chips, and foods containing nitrates, cause cancer, while foods with anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants can prevent or promote cancer treatment.”He said also, “These include natural foods such as , broccoli, ginger, green tea, garlic, red cabbage, blueberries, apple, etc.., , and foods rich in fiber and vitamins A and C.”Dr. Mickey Mehta, holistic health guru and life coach, explains that cancer is caused by a lack of foods responsible for cell regeneration: “Foods are pure, wholesome and alkaline, which have the effect of soothing them. In the absence of these foods, every time we consume something that irritates us – which can be foods with dyes, preservatives, processed, unhealthy and acidic in nature – we promote cancer.He listed some of the foods to avoid to reduce the risk of cancer. These include1) Ultra-processed foods: popular products such as instant noodles and soups, canned meals, convenience foods, baked foods such as crackers, rolls, bagels, biscotti, etc. contain hydrogenated oils that disrupt the balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in the body, causing general inflammation which in turn leads to cancer.2) Red meat, steak, lamb, etc. have certain impurities that promote the formation of carcinogenic compounds, thus increasing risk factors for cancer.3) In addition to what you eat, it is also important to consider “how you cook.” Cooking at high temperatures, such as grilling, frying, steaming, etc., can cause cancer-causing chemicals to enter our bloodstream.4) Refined sugar causes blood sugar spikes and can increase the risk of different types of cancer. To prevent cancer, you need to avoid foods such as candy, cotton candy, soft drinks, fruit juices, popsicles, doughnuts, packaged desserts, pancake syrup, chocolate syrup, energy bars, breakfast cereals (corn flakes), ketchup, barbecue sauce, and bottled salad dressing.5) Pesticides and herbicides are used to extend the shelf life of many fruits and vegetables and end up in our bodies. Excessive consumption that alters sugar levels in the body and is harmful to cells, e.g., beer, cocktails, wines, etc. Tobacco in the form of cigarettes, paan and gutka causes mouth cancer.8) Dairy products: high calcium intake promotes the development of prostate cancer. Foods such as processed cheese, low-fat dairy products (to which sugar is added to compensate for the low fat content), flavored yogurts, ice cream, milkshakes, chocolate milk, sweetened condensed milk, etc. are the most foods that can lead you to develop the cancer.9) Junk/fast food – Cheeseburgers, pasta, pizza, street vada-pav, fried samosas should not be consumed regularly because they are not good for health.Ultimately, while it is best to permanently eliminate some of these foods from the plate, others are fine if consumed in moderation.
