Boerne's softball and baseball is Northrup Park. There are also many other outdoor activities to enjoy. The fields can be rented for tournament play , and are also available for use in Little League and adult recreation leagues. With a total area of less than 100 acres, this park runs along the Cibolo River on the north side of Boerne.

 In 1995, in recognition of the need for youth softball and adult softball fields, the City of Boerne purchased 103 acres from the Lynn L. Northrup Jr. family. This family generously assisted the City in the purchase of the land and also gave Northrup Park its name.

 The development of the park was made possible by substantial funding assistance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Numerous other contributions from local businesses as well as civic organizations and individuals were also used to finance park amenities such as the playscape, basketball court that is covered, and other amenities. The park was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of city crews for many years. In 2000, the park became open for public use and permitted local league games.
