When you saw it in steel, you were stunned and immediately gave over your credit card. Next, you were confused when it emerged in white gold with a rubber band, but you still replied take my money. You know it, you love it, and everyone else with good judgment… and more than a few cents to spare knows it, too. Ladies and gentlemen, please stand and offer your best Saxon shout as the A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus returns to the Palexpo, this time in titanium!

To be fair, A. Lange & Söhne did not launch the steel Odysseus at the Geneva exhibition, so this titanium gentleman is the first to grace these hallowed halls, especially considering the watch is limited to 250 pieces and will most likely be sold out by the time you read this. There are a few key features of the Odysseus in titanium that set it apart.

The watch is substantially lighter in titanium than in steel or white gold, as one would anticipate. This improves the fit of the watch head on the wrist – the steel version fit most wrists, but this one goes the extra mile to make the experience more pleasant. Next, given how tough it is to gussy up titanium, the combination of matte and polished finishes for the case and bracelet is just stunning. The watchmakers at A. Lange & Söhne used micro-blasting to produce the matte finish, while the bright portions, like the bracelet links, are hand-polished. Allow it to soak in for a minute. Examine the watch once again and count the links. You already know you want to. We’ll just have to wait. If you are not thoroughly impressed, this watch is not for you.

Finally, there’s the new Ice Blue dial. It’s also ornamented differently from the steel one, which is a great touch. In some ways, this is the frosting on the horological cake that team A. Lange & Söhne has so meticulously constructed. If only someone would offer you a slice of it.
