ColourPop Gone Matte Mega Eyeshadow Palette - 9 minutes read

Gone Matte

ColourPop Gone Matte 30-Pan Shadow Palette is a new all-matte eyeshadow palette with 30 different shades. They read as more desaturated neutral shades to my eyes, but that doesn’t mean they’re all ultra-pale. Each column has a different color, ranging from peach/copper to taupe/gray.

While ColourPop has more than their fair share of releases, I believe this is a fantastic palette for them to debut. The quality was consistent with their previous matte eyeshadows: pigmented, blendable, and longer-lasting with light to moderate powderiness, but many shades had a more velvety, substantial feel that I find exceptionally forgiving of skin texture (especially dryness and unevenness), which is not always the case with matte eyeshadow formulas. There was a good mix of light, mid-tone, and darker shades, making the palette more usable for a wider range of skin tones.

Fluff Up

Fluff Up is a lighter, medium-toned peach with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. In the pan, the texture was soft and lightly powdery, but the eyeshadow was finely milled and velvety, giving it substance and better adhesion to even drier skin. It had opaque color coverage that lasted for eight hours before noticeably fading.

Teddy

Teddy is a brighter, yellowish peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a rich color payoff and a smooth, velvety texture that was slightly powdery in the pan but didn’t sheer out or have fallout during application. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before visibly fading.

Duvet It

Duvet It’s a light brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was velvety with substance but not too firmly pressed into the pan. It provided full color coverage and lasted for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Ur a Faux

Ur a Faux is a medium rosy beige with a matte finish and a hint of warmth. It had a rich pigmentation and a soft, lightly powdery texture that was finely milled, smooth, and velvety without sheering out. It lasted for about eight hours before becoming visibly faded.

Pillow Fight

Pillow Fight is a matte medium pink with muted, warmer undertones. The eyeshadow had a single layer of opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. The texture was soft and powdery in the pan, but not sheering out. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Luv Bug

Luv Bug is a pale bluish-gray with cool undertones and a matte finish. It was a little powdery, more so than the other shades in the palette, so there was some light fallout if I wasn’t careful working with it. The pigmentation was opaque at first but sheered out slightly in practice. It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Butter Up

Butter Up is a pale peachy orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was velvety and smooth to the touch, with minimal powderiness–the kind that keeps the product blendable but doesn’t cause fallout. It had opaque color coverage that lasted for eight hours before visibly fading.

Shaggy

Shaggy has a matte finish and is a faded medium orange with warmer, yellow undertones. It had a richly pigmented, velvety texture that wasn’t powdery or too firmly pressed into the pan, making it easy to work with. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

The Cuddles

The Cuddles is a peachy brown with light-medium undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had a soft, blendable texture in the pan that was slightly powdery but did not sheer out during application. It provided opaque color coverage that lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

PJs

PJs is a pale pinky-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had an opaque color payoff and a soft, slightly powdery texture with a touch of fallout during application but was blendable. It lasted for about eight hours before becoming visibly faded.

Big Hugs

Big Hugs is a matte medium rosy mauve with warmer undertones. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, though it sheered slightly when applied to bare skin due to the pan’s light powderiness. The formula, on the other hand, was blendable and buildable. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Overcast

Overcast is a taupe-brown with a light-medium sheen and a matte finish. With a light powderiness, the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable. It had a full color payoff that lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Chaise Me

Chaise Me is a vibrant medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a light powderiness in the pan and a touch of flyaway powder during application, but there was no visible fallout beneath the eye. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted for eight hours before visibly fading.

Blankie

Blankie is a medium caramel brown with a matte finish and warmer, yellow undertones. The eyeshadow was densely pigmented and had a smooth, velvety texture that was neither too firmly nor too loosely pressed into the pan. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Ultrasuede

Ultrasuede is a medium brown with moderate, warm undertones that are balanced between red and orange and a matte finish. The texture was soft, blendable, and a little powdery in the pan, but it adhered well to bare skin and provided full color coverage in a single layer. It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Cozy Cute

Cozy Cute is a medium-dark coral with warm, orange undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and substantial without being overly powdery. It had an opaque color payoff that lasted well over eight hours before visibly fading.

Very Velveteen

Very Velveteen is a deep, rosy mauve with warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, and the texture was smooth, velvety, and blendable, with a light powderiness that stayed mostly in the pan. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Comfy

Comfy is a taupe-brown medium with warm undertones and a matte finish. This was one of the palette’s weaker shades, with semi-sheer to medium, somewhat buildable coverage and a moderately powdery texture that was prone to fallout despite being very blendable on my skin. It lasted for seven hours before fading slightly.

Snug as a Bug

Snug as a Bug is a rich, vibrant orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a richly pigmented, smooth, velvety texture that was a tad powdery in the pan but blendable without being prone to fallout or sheering out too easily. It lasted for about eight hours before becoming visibly faded.

Fleecy

Fleecy is a matte dark coppery-brown with warm, red undertones. The eyeshadow provided opaque color coverage in a single layer, adhered evenly to bare skin, and blended out nicely along the edges due to the smooth and velvety texture that was not overly powdery. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Snoozin’

Snoozin’ is a matte medium yellowy brown with warm undertones. It had an opaque color payoff and a smooth, blendable texture that was substantial but not powdery or dense. It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Onesie

Onesie is a medium, rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, blendable, and slightly powdery, so there was some fallout during application if I wasn’t careful. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that lasted for eight hours before fading visibly.

Cushion Cut

Cushion Cut is a deep purple-taupe with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had a moderately powdery consistency that was prone to sheering out and had light fallout during application, so it was best applied over an eyeshadow primer to improve grip. It had semi-opaque color coverage that could be built up. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Downlike

Downlike is a deep taupe with a matte finish and a neutral-olive undertone. It was semi-opaque, buildable, and had a slightly firmer, stiffer texture (particularly in comparison to the other shades in the palette). It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Earmuffs

Earmuffs is a warm, red undertoned copper with a matte finish. Because the texture was smooth, velvety, and blendable, it had an opaque color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. It lasted for about eight hours before becoming visibly faded.

Powder Puff

Powder Puff is a matte medium-dark chocolate brown with muted, warm yellow undertones. It provided nearly opaque color coverage that could be easily built up to full coverage. In the pan, the consistency was soft, smooth, and velvety, with a light powderiness. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Sleepwalker

Sleepwalker is a dark taupe-brown with a warm undertone and a matte finish. It had a semi-opaque, buildable color payoff and a soft, lightly powdery texture that was blendable and didn’t sheer out easily. It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.

Pouffe

Pouffe is a rich reddish brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and substantial without being overly powdery. It had full color coverage that lasted for about eight hours before visibly fading.

Velvet Dress

Velvet Dress is a matte blackened plum with subtle, warm undertones. The texture was somewhat powdery with a tendency to sheer out, so the coverage was more medium and buildable. To avoid fallout, I recommend using a denser brush for the initial product laydown, or applying it over an eyeshadow primer. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.

Roll Around

Roll Around is a soft black with a matte finish and neutral-to-cool undertones. It had some powderiness in the pan, which made it a more buildable black (because it was semi-opaque to begin with), but you’ll want to use a light hand to avoid fallout. It lasted for eight hours before fading slightly.
