Disney's "The Little Mermaid"-Inspired Minnie Mouse Ears Are Taking Instagram By Storm
If there's anything people love more than sparkly accessories, it's ones inspired by Disney. The rose gold Minnie Mouse ears took over Instagram back in 2017, and the rainbow ones Disney launched for LGBTQ+ Pride month last year were particular fan favorites. Now, there's another style blowing up social media and we're not at all surprised. Say hello to the cutest new thingamabobs: Little Mermaid ears. We have a feeling way more adults are going to be wearing these than children. (Hey, no judgments.)
According to Disney Style's Instagram, the ears are part of a new collection celebrating the 30th anniversary of Disney's The Little Mermaid. The color scheme of the headband is all Ariel, with pastel hues of lavender and seafoam green. Purple and gold clamshell ears represent Ariel's top and the ocean blue band has an under-the-sea feel. One side of the headband features Ariel's form and the other reads: Mermaid Hair Don’t Care. I haven't been to Disney as an adult (I know, I know), but I'm about to go just to rock these.
Disney is definitely trending, which makes perfect sense considering everything is all about nostalgia. When it comes to fashion and beauty trends, the '90s currently reign. There have been a ton of Disney-themed beauty collections as of late, whether official or not. There's Luminess Cosmetics and The Lion King, Aladdin x M.A.C., ColourPop and Disney Villains, and even a Little Mermaid-themed makeup brush set at Hot Topic.
Just like the recent live-action Aladdin, we're getting a Little Mermaid movie, too. Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play Ursula, though many fans think Lizzo should get the role. Either way, we're sure to see even more Little Mermaid collections come out in the months leading up to the release.
Dying to grab the Little Mermaid ears? You're in luck. Though they've been spotted at Disneyland, they'll also be for sale at Walt Disney World and on shopdisney.com on July 8. They'll reportedly retail for $28.
