In this post, we have given the instructions. In this post, we have given the instructions for both indoor and outdoor unit installations. So, read this entire post and complete your York AC installation easily and as quickly as possible.

1. Select the Installation Location

You should follow the below standards while selecting the location for York air conditioner installation. The needed standards for proper installation are:

Convenient drainage.

Good air circulation.

Firm and solid, the location should not vibrate.

Strong enough to support the weight of the air conditioning unit.

A location must be at least one meter from other electrical devices.

You do not install your indoor unit:

Nearby source of heat, steam and combustible gas.

Near flammable things like curtains, clothing, etc.

At the doorway.

Near any obstacle that might block air circulation.

The location should not be subjected to direct sunlight.

2. Attach Mounting Plate to Wall

The mounting plate is the device on which you will mount the indoor unit. So, here, you can know how to attach the mounting plate to the wall.

Remove the screw that attaches the mounting plate to the back of your indoor unit.

Now, you have to place the mounting plate against the wall in a location as per the standards given in the manual.

After that, drill holes for mounting screws in places that have studs and support the unit weight and the place need to correspond to screw holes in the mounting plate.

Tighten and secure the mounting plate to the wall with the screws provided.

The mounting plate should be flat against the wall.

3. Drill wall hole for connective piping

You will need to drill a hole in the wall for refrigerant piping, the drainage pipe and the signal cable that connects the indoor and outdoor units.

This wall hole has a minimum of 65mm diameter and at a slightly lower angle to facilitate drainage. Make sure the location of the wall hole should be based on the position of the mounting plate.

You can use a 65 mm core drill for drilling a hole in the wall. Moreover, it should be a slight downward angle so that the outdoor end of the hole is lower than the indoor. It helps for proper water drainage.

At last, place the protective wall cuff in the drilled hole. It protects the hole edges and helps to seal them when you complete the installation process.

4. Prepare Refrigerant Piping

The refrigerant piping is inside an insulating sleeve that is attached to the back of the unit. You should prepare the piping before passing it through the hole in the wall.

You have to choose the side from which the piping exit the indoor unit based on the wall hole position relative to the mounting plate.

If the wall hole is to the side of the unit, you need to remove the plastic knock-out panel from the side of the outdoor unit. If the hole is behind the indoor unit, keep the knock-out panel in place.

Cut down the length of the insulating sleeve to about 15cm of the refrigerant piping by using scissors.

If existing connective piping is already embedded in the wall, you can proceed directly with the drain hose connection.

You have to determine the angle of your piping depending on the wall hole position relative to the mounting plate.

Grip the refrigerant piping at the base of the bend.

Next, bend the piping towards the hole slowly with even pressure.

5. Connect Drain Hose

By default, the drain hose is attached to the left side of the air conditioning unit. You need to attach it to the right side as well.

You have to connect the drain hose on the same side where your refrigerant piping exists in the unit to ensure proper drainage.

Now, attach the drain hose extension to the end of the drain hose.

Seal the connection point firmly with Teflon tape to prevent leaks.

Remove the air filter and pour a small amount of water into the drain pan to keep the water flowing as smooth from AC.

6. Connect Signal Cable

This signal cable enables communication between the indoor & outdoor units. So, the cable should be in the right size for proper operation.

Prepare the signal cable for connection.

After that, open the front panel of the indoor unit.

Open the wire box cover on the right side with a screwdriver to access the terminal block.

Now, unscrew the cable clamp below the terminal block and keep it aside.

Facing the back of indoor unit, remove the plastic panel on the bottom left-hand side.

Pull the signal wire through this slot from back to the front of the unit.

Match all wire colors based on the labels on the terminal block. Connect the u-lug and firmly screw each wire to the corresponding terminal.

Once you confirmed that every connection is secured, you have to fasten the cable to the unit with a cable clamp.

Now, replace the wire cover and the plastic panel.

7. Wrap Piping and Cables

Before passing the piping, drain hose, and the signal cable through the wall hole, bundle them together to save space. Also, you need to protect them, and insulate them.

8. Mount indoor unit

If you have installed the new connective piping to the outdoor unit, then do the following:

Hook the top of the indoor unit on the upper hook of the mounting plate.

Check that the AC is hooked firmly on mounting by applying slight pressure.

Push down on the bottom of the indoor unit. You need to keep pushing down until it snaps onto the hooks along the bottom of the mounting plate.

Again check whether it is firmly mounted or not by applying slight pressure.

Outdoor Unit Installation

Here, you can check the outdoor unit installation instructions.

Select the proper location.

Install drain joint.

Anchor outdoor unit to the ground or a wall-mounted bracket.

Check the manual for the detailed installation process of York AC outdoor unit installation.
