Roll-Royce has had a spectacular year in 2021, with the company achieving its highest-ever annual sales results in its 117-year history. In total, 5,586 automobiles were delivered to customers around the world, representing a 49% increase over the same period in 2020. High demand across multiple markets, including Greater China, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific, has resulted in record-breaking sales. “Growth was led by China and the Americas, which each accounted for about 30% of sales, Europe 20%, and the Middle East 10%,” according to the Financial Times.
All of the cars in the marque’s lineup performed admirably. The Ghost was the main driver of growth in 2021, and demand grew even more after the release of the Black Badge Ghost, a darker and more powerful alter-ego of the Ghost. Not to mention, the Cullinan, like the Phantom, is still a favorite among many fans of the brand. All of the different models “ensured order books are full well into the third quarter of 2022,” according to the report.

Rolls-Royce has cemented its position as the king of luxury cars — in the +€250k segment — with such impressive sales figures. The creation of bespoke, one-of-a-kind products is at the heart of any luxury brand. The Rolls-Royce Coachbuild, a collaboration between patron and artisan, was introduced to cater to this segment by the Goodwood-based car manufacturer. This new commitment is exemplified by the Boat Tail, which was launched in May of last year.

The Phantom Oribe, which was co-created with Hermès, as well as the Phantom Tempus, Black Badge Wraith, and Black Badge Dawn Landspeed Collection cars, are all magnificent examples of the marque’s bespoke commissions. In addition, many car manufacturers pursued electrification with their fleets in 2021. Rolls-Royce has announced the launch of its first all-electric vehicle, the Spectre, in the fourth quarter of 2023. By 2030, the company wants to be completely electric, eliminating the need for combustion engines.

The company intends to invest in future manufacturing capabilities as well as new talent in the coming years. This ensures that the craftsmanship is preserved rather than lost, and that it is continually improved to meet the needs of the future.
