Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer
Question:
Looking to purchase new racket, presently using a Mark V bought from Ping Skills out of Australia.
I have been playing about a year and half, and looking for something with a better spin and control than the Mark V. I am told I hit more with a no spin ball even though I am trying to put a lot of spin on ball, I am blaming my racket. Saw your video on the ALC Timo Boll racket, and my budget is in the $150.00 range.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you, Bob
Answer:
Your Ask the Experts question was answered by Tawny Banh. She is a coach at the Los Angeles Table Tennis Association in El Monte, CA. Coach Banh’s response is as follows:
It has 5 ply wood + 2 Arylate/Carbon. The ALC has a good blend of speed, spin, and control. It’s not a very fast blade considering it is carbon. Thus, it will give you better spin and control (which is what you are seeking).
I also suggest you use the Timo Boll ALC blade with Rozena rubbers. The rubber you are currently using does not generate spin like Rozena.
Good luck!
Coach Tawny
