Janet Jackson has just released a deluxe edition of her legendary album “The Velvet Rope” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its debut. The album was released in 1997 and was Jackson’s sixth overall. The compilation also includes various remixes that were previously exclusively available on CD singles, as well as 10 new-to-platform additional tracks that include sought-after B-sides and remixes, including two rarities, “Accept Me” and “God’s Stepchild.”

Teddy Riley’s TNT Remix of “I Get Lonely,” which features BLACKstreet, J. Dilla’s (Ummah Jay Dee) remix of “Got ‘Til It’s Gone,” and Timbaland/Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott’s remix of “Go Deep” are among them. Club mixes of several tunes by David Morales & Frankie Knuckles, Masters at Work, Tony Moran, Jason Nevins, and Tony Humphries are also featured. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced “The Velvet Rope” for Flyte Tyme Productions Inc. and Ms. Jackson. Janet’s delicate and moving work addressed issues of female sexuality as seen through the eyes of a black woman, as well as domestic abuse and mental health.

The album included the popular singles “Together Again,” “I Get Lonely,” and “Every Time,” as well as key album cuts “Go Deep” and “Got ‘Til It’s Gone” [with Q-Tip and Joni Mitchell].
