Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire cut a casual figure as they reunite for a boys' night out

They played on-screen pals Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway in 2013's The Great Gatsby. 

But on Tuesday, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire proved their off-screen friendship of 30 years is still going strong when they were spotted meeting up with  buddies for a boys' night out in West Hollywood.

The 44-year Oscar winning actor Leo kept a low profile in a jet-black hoodie coupled with dark-wash skinny jeans. 

The bill of his fitted cap shaded his gaze and his sneakers glistened bright white with red accents at the back. 

Tobey, 44, stayed warm on top in a white sweater he contrasted with some standard tennis shorts and a pair of black running shoes.

The length of his shorts drew attention to his toned, tanned calves. 

Leo and Tobey met as 12-year-olds at an audition in the late 1980s. 

In a 2014 interview with Esquire, Leo recalled his first time meeting Tobey at the start of his career: 'I literally jumped out of the car. I was like, "Tobey! Tobey! Hey! Hey!" 

'And he was like, "Oh, yeah—I know you. You're ... that guy." 

'But I just made him my pal. When I want someone to be my friend, I just make them my friend.' 

The screen stars have also stayed loyal to one another in the face of direct competition. 

Leo beat out Tobey for two leading roles in the early 1990s—Critters 3 and This Boy's Life—but this didn't put a wedge between them. 

They would come to collaborate years later on 2001's low-budget Don Plum, and 2013's The Great Gatsby. 

The two were even neighbors at the time The Great Gatsby began development. 

When Leo asked for Tobey's participation in the Baz Luhrmann production, he didn't have to travel far.

Recalling the meeting in a 2013interview, Tobey said: 'I was like, "Oh, yeah. Sure. I can be over in 30 seconds if that's good for you."'

And according to a source via People back in 2016, Leo has made a habit of hanging out with the kids Tobey shares with estranged wife Jennifer Meyer—Ruby, 12, and Otis, 10.

The source said: 'They will visit the beach, or grab Sunday brunch. 

'Leo is great with Ruby and Otis ... He is very hands-on, too, and offers help with cutting up their food and will carry them across the street. He would be a great dad!' 

The pair might share a glamorous reality, but Tobey insisted to People back in 2013 that they're 'like any other buddies.' 

'There's a lot of laughing and chatting between us. We enjoy doing a lot of things we have in common, like basketball. We like to play and talk about basketball.'
