211 special trains run to deal with festive fever

  • Indian Railways is operating 211 special trains for the convenience of railway passengers to meet the festive season rush.
  • Special trains have been planned to connect significant destinations like Azamgarh, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Ferozepur, Patna, Katihar and Amritsar.
  • Indian Railways has notified 32 additional special services to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for passengers.
  • Indian Railways had notified 179 special services before the start of the festive season.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur inaugurates Chandni Chowk mega cleanliness drive.

  • Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launched the mega clean-up campaign under Swachh Bharat 2022 from Chandni Chowk, Delhi.
  • The main objective of the campaign is to strengthen the efforts of Swachh Bharat 2022 by the Department of Youth Affairs.
  • The month-long Swachh Bharat 2022 was launched on October 1 from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The program started with a target of collecting 10 million kilograms of waste within a month.

Global Youth Climate in Bangladesh

  • Youth from 70 countries will participate in the World Youth Climate Summit, which will open on October 20, 2022, in Khulna, Bangladesh.
  • The three-day summit to be held on October 20-22 will bring together 650 youth in a hybrid format, with 150 youth participating in person and 500 online.
  • The Global Center for Youth Leadership is also launching as a global organization to mobilize youth, especially from the Global South, to tackle the climate crisis.
  • Khulna has been chosen as the inaugural site of the GYLC as it is one of the most climate-sensitive regions of Bangladesh.

Government launches Integrated Portal of Pensioners for Central Government Employees.

  • Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, launched a unified Pensioners Portal for Central Government Pensioners.
  • The latest portal will act as a one-stop solution for all the needs of pensioners. Future pension payment and tracking portals are being integrated with the State Bank of India (SBI) Pension Services Portal.
  • According to the government, the portal will allow pensioners to access all information and services in one place with a single login.
