ColourPop Lucky Penny Eyeshadow Palette - 4 minutes read
Lucky Penny
ColourPop Lucky Penny 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette is a new, very warm-toned set of neutrals that included four shimmery eyeshadows and five matte eyeshadows. All nine shades were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing, and it was actually one of the more consistent and better-performing palettes from the brand in the last year. I do think that the color story could have benefited from changing out one of the mid-depth shades (like Hit It Big) for something much deeper than Bullion, because the colors can muddy a bit due to closeness in depth.
Shiny Objects
Shiny Objects is a medium peach with warm, pinker undertones and lighter, peachy gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that delivered an even layer of product that wasn’t prone to fallout. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.
Token
Token is a light-medium brown with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, more velvety consistency that was lightly powdery in the pan but not prone to sheering out or having fallout during blending. It lasted well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.
Like New
Like New is a medium brown with warm, reddish undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery in the pan, but it delivered full color payoff in a single layer that blended out with ease along the edges without having fallout concerns. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.
Copperhead
Copperhead is a rich, deeper copper with warm, orange undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque color payoff paired with a lightly creamy, moderately-dense texture that picked up readily with a dry brush and applied evenly to bare skin. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.
Favor
Favor is a rich, coppery gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single pass, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges. The consistency was moderately dense, smooth and lightly emollient, which made it easy to work with. This shade showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.
Hit It Big
Hit It Big is a medium-dark copper with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, more velvety and substantial with light powderiness that was mostly present in the pan but less noticeable during application. It had full color coverage that lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.
Coin
Coin is a deep, rich orange with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had intense color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges without losing its intensity. The texture was soft, somewhat powdery with a little fallout during application if I wasn’t careful. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.
Makin’ Cents
Makin’ Cents is a deep, coppery brown with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had a lightly creamy, moderately dense texture that wasn’t overly emollient or too thick, so it still picked up well with a dry brush and adhered evenly to bare skin. It had opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours before fading a bit.
Bullion
Bullion is a richer, medium-dark brown with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage paired with a slightly thinner, drier consistency that was less powdery compared to other shades but didn’t have the same velvety quality. Ultimately, the product still applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without much effort. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.
