Omega has been a leader in the world of deep sea diving watches since the 1930's, but this new timepiece takes them further beneath the surface than ever before. The watch was conceived to play a role in adventurer and underseas explorer Vitor Vescovo's Five Deeps Expedition — an unprecedented series of explorations to the deepest spots within each of the world's five oceans. Vescovo recently set a new world record for the deepest dive at 10,928 meters (35,853 feet) in the Sirena Deep of the Mariana Trench, and this Seamaster was along for the ride. Aptly dubbed the "Ultra Deep" this unique watch and is made of forged Grade 5 titanium along with titanium that was cut from the body of the Limiting Factor: the submersible that housed Vescovo and his crew. The watch's crystal is expedition inspired as well, joined to the body just like viewports are designed on underwater crafts to better distribute pressure. The watch is certified to 15,000 meters — a depth that doesn't even exist — with a substantial 52.5mm case that is 28mm thick and powered by Omega's caliber 8912 movement. It's also equipped with open-jaw "manta" lugs to help reduce torsion around the polyamide strap with Velcro closure as pressure inevitably builds and decreases on a voyage.
