Clarence, the protagonist of "The Book of Clarence," is an atheist who rejects the religious foundation of the epic. Despite the fact that Thomas, Clarence's twin brother, is an apostle of Jesus, Clarence does not practise religion. Not only does he reject the idea of a higher power, but he also plays a significant role in the illegal drug trade, having both bought and sold marijuana. In his realm, women in skimpy clothing dance sensually in underground clubs while ominous figures lurk in the shadows. Despite being connected to one of Jesus' apostles, Clarence's brilliance is not well known in Jerusalem.
