Surrogacy is a process in which a woman, known as a surrogate mother, carries a pregnancy and gives birth to a child for another couple, known as the intended parents. The intended parents may be unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term for a variety of reasons, such as infertility, medical conditions, or same-sex relationships.
