At least one social media platform is integrated into most, if not all, business models in the 21st century. Businesses are increasingly adopting social media platforms as part of their marketing and advertising strategies to maintain a competitive advantage. Social media use in the workplace has increased in recent years due to the widespread availability of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. A survey from 2011 found that 73% of employees used social media for personal reasons during work hours, whereas only 33% responded that social media was not allowed at work. Additionally, a study from the same year found that 54% of employees used social media for both personal and work-related purposes during work hours.
Social media has also been credited with helping to improve traditional business practices as well. Businesses are increasingly using social media platforms to help engage in successful marketing campaigns, recruit new talent, and strengthen customer service interactions. According to the Social Media Examiner, 74% of marketers who use social media claim that they have obtained a better ROI than with traditional marketing.
Not only is social media connecting people, but it’s also helping businesses to be more effective as well. If you’re interested in starting your own business, but are still unsure about the best way to get started, feel free to check out our Business Startup Guide for help. Check out here…
