How to Use the Magic of Archetypes for Manifesting, Guidance and Psychic Protection - 6 minutes read
Archetypes in 'Sacred Contracts' & Planets in Astrology
Detailed, consistent visualization is undoubtedly the key to embedding the astral plane with the blueprint for your desires so that they will manifest in your physical plane. However, unless you are a highly imaginative person or one who has taken the time to develop the skill of detailed visualization, it is often easier to use archetypes to imprint the matrix of creation.
Archetypes are symbols with universal meanings which become the prototypes for every possible situation or phenomenon in the manifested universe. They are energy blueprints which exist within the collective consciousness of humanity.
These symbols are the language of the higher, non-physical planes and are, therefore, not easily translatable into verbal communication - especially when their deeper meanings are hidden at the subconscious level. For instance, how often have you felt the frustration of not being able to remember your dreams even when they seemed to be at the tip of your tongue or at the fringe of your awareness?
By energizing the appropriate archetypal symbols, their corresponding universal patterns, already existing in the astral plane, will generate the matrices upon which your desires can manifest. Examples of such powerful trigger images are: the wise old man who provides wisdom and guidance, the buxom mother figure who brings fertility and productivity and the armed warrior who exhibits courage.
Discover which archetypes best symbolize your desires and you will have a handy tool for reality-creation at you beck and call. Emergency situations, such as manifesting a train connection or requesting for psychic protection, easily lend themselves to the use of archetypes.
The following are some useful universal symbols which can be help you create your desired life situations:
- A BRIDGE connects you from one locale or situation to another. For instance, a mental picture of a bridge can reinforce your energy connection to your dream house or dream vacation.
- A SHIELD is a protective archetype. This image can be imaginatively reshaped and designed to fit any specific situation which requires protection.
- A SWORD has multiple connotations, including cutting to the heart of the matter - a helpful image if you want to clarify a situation or bypass bureaucratic red tape. Apply the SWORD archetype responsibly because it also possesses a destructive potential which is obvious and which YOU MUST AVOID USING UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO DEAL WITH THE SIGNIFICANT KARMIC CONSEQUENCES.
The possibilities for archetypal use are endless. In fact, it may be worth obtaining a dictionary of archetypes or a book of symbols if this tool for manifesting appeals to you.
Archetypes admittedly also require some degree of visualization but you can simplify your work considerably by collecting existing pictures of symbols which you may want to use. The internet provides many such usable images although magazines are probably a better source of colored pictures, especially if you do not own a color printer.
Search for powerful, unambiguous pictures of archetypes and consider including images of mythological and historical heroes and heroines. For instance, you can imagine Hermes (messenger of the gods) hand-carrying a much awaited letter of good fortune or Hercules (a demi-god) giving you the strength and protection for a particularly challenging undertaking.
The uses of archetypes are as varied and endless as your imagination allows. As long as you are clear about the universal meaning involved, you can be flexible in creating a ritual to energize the archetype being used.
Amulets and talismans are often empowered through archetypal symbolism. Sometimes the meanings of certain symbols are not immediately obvious but they can be intuited at a deeper, subconscious level.
Shamans are instinctively gifted readers of energy patterns and symbols found in the natural world, for instance, patterns of leaves on the ground or even cloud formations. Because these tribal sages know that the universe is never silent, they are able to provide advice and guidance simply by reading the universal signs and signals in the world around them.
Most forms of divination are based on the interpretation of archetypes. For instance, the major arcana (picture cards) of the Tarot cards are designed to encode universal symbolism.
As mentioned earlier, the great advantage of using archetypes in manifesting is that their meanings are already encoded as the language of the matrix. You would, therefore, simply be using the built-in resonance between the archetypal symbol and its pre-existing meaning in order to trigger your desired manifestation.
Personal Transformation Using 'Sacred Contracts', the Archetypal Tool
The works of Dr. Caroline Myss has been ground-breaking, which has led to the synchronization of the logical world with the 'symbolic' world, to say the least. Some of her books include, 'Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing', 'Sacred Contracts: Awakening your Divine Potential', 'Entering the Castle: Finding the Inner Path to God and Your Soul's Purpose' and her latest work, 'Defy Gravity: Healing Beyond the Bounds of Reason'.
The 'Sacred Contracts' is an archetypal tool for personal transformation, pioneered by Dr.Myss during her progressive work in the field of medical intuition. Before teaching this model to others, so students of her work could start practicing it themselves, she had done intuitive readings for countless people in order to guide them toward healing.
Intuitive readings involve scanning the energy system or the chakras of an individual.
As she once described, during the course of her medical intuitive readings, another dimension called the archetypal realm was revealing itself to her. Additionally, these archetypal data fell into the pattern of a wheel, which she later recognized as a duplication of the model of the astrological chart. So the Archetypal tool, 'Sacred Contracts' is not unlike the conventional astrological models of the West (tropical), or the East (sidereal).
For example, while the Western astrological wheel uses the major components of the houses, planets, sun signs, the archetypal wheel uses the combination of the houses, chakra system and the archetypes. Because the model is similar to traditional astrological models, the knowledge of astrology is used to enhance the ability of using the tool of the archetypal wheel.
In the 'Sacred Contracts', a combination of twelve archetypes has been defined to correspond with the individual's purpose for this lifetime. Four patterns, called the survival archetypes - Victim, Saboteur, Prostitute and Child - are common to every human being. So choosing the other eight archetypes form one of the foremost steps of the process.
Through a guided intuitive process, the twelve archetypes are then cast in a wheel. Each archetype pairs with one of the houses in the wheel. The result is the person's 'chart of origin' (similar to the 'natal chart' of astrology), the life story of the individual.
To mine perspectives for life solutions - relationship, health, career, spirituality - each archetype is interpreted according to the house it is present, as a first step. The Inventor in the sixth house of a person's chart for example, will relate to the person's need for novelty, predominantly in the area of his daily disciplines or occupation. The second chakra is related to the sixth house's characteristics of work and discipline, providing the individual with a sense of power to be in the world.
The emphasis in this journey is toward developing a symbolic or archetypal view of one's life events, rather than interpreting life circumstances literally.
