Microsoft Windows 1.11 App Celebrates Stranger Things Season 3
Today, Microsoft has published a brand-new app called 'Windows 1.11' in the Microsoft Store to promote the third installment of Stranger Things, available right now on Netflix.
The Windows 1.11 app offers a Windows 1.11-like experience on Windows 10 with Stranger Things content, and it's entirely aimed at fans of the show. The tech giant's app invites users to explore more about Windows 1.11 and the show.
In the app, you can explore the mysteries Hawkins, unlock unique show content, and also enjoy the mixed puzzle games with Stranger Things content.
Windows 1.11 app features Microsoft's classic Paint and Terminal programs, as well as Stranger Things-themed puzzles and unique content. The cryptic description on the Microsoft Store listing invites users to explore the world of Windows 1.11 and Strangers Things.
“Experience 1985 nostalgia with a special edition Windows 10 PC app inspired by Windows 1.0—but one that’s been taken over by the Upside Down from Stranger Things,” the description reads.
As you can see in the above screenshots, the classic Paint experience is offered within the app but with a twist. For instance, Paint has multiple pencil cursors and, if you draw something on it, it will deliver a surprising result.
“The themes of curiosity, ingenuity and teamwork that are woven through Stranger Things ring true to the culture and mission of Microsoft,” says Eli Friedman, general manager, Integrated Marketing, Modern Life & Devices, Microsoft.
“We’re excited to be able to transport fans to one of our favorite years, and to empower them to leverage technology to do extraordinary things, just like the heroes of the show,” the company stated.
Beginning July 20, students aged 13+ can head to the Microsoft Store and attend Camp Know. The young fans will also get two free STEM-inspired workshops integrated with technology themes from the show and its characters.
Microsoft says that a floppy disk is not required to download the app. You can visit Microsoft's Stranger Things webpage or the Microsoft Store to install Windows 1.11 on Windows 10.
