How is bottled water made?
There are no standards for bottled water, but most commonly bottled water is made from standard tap water that has been demineralized.
This procedure makes ordinary water more pure and significantly removes most trace metals.
A standard demineralizer consists of two tanks that work like filters at the molecular level.
A mixed bed demineralizer is a single tank with both cation and anion resin mixed together
.
Both types of systems use a strong acid and caustic to regenerate daily and because of that need to be highly corrosion resistant.
Tap water or well water is normally the input for demineralizers.

Edit; Often pre-treatment of the source water is used in order to save on chemical costs The main material is 18/8 Stainless Steel- the material is formed in parts using molds and forming machinery- there are 2 main parts that form the inner wall and the outer wall, perfectly aligned and fused together at the top to ensure the best insulation. Sometimes when bottles stop insulating, it could be because they were dropped and the alignment of inner and outer became misaligned. Some brands like RHP add and additional copper coating outside of the inner wall which extends insulation by about 7-10 degrees longer.
