Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond Releases ‘Biker Babe’ Rock Music - 1 minute read

Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond has ventured into rock music with his latest release, “Biker Babe.” Before achieving international fame with Above & Beyond alongside Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki in the trance genre, McGuinness initially explored rock-and-roll, drawing inspiration from icons like Steely Dan and The Beach Boys. His solo rock album, Salt, which he recorded nearly 30 years ago, remained in his archives until now. Following two decades of success with Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats, McGuinness has decided to unveil Salt to the world.

This week, McGuinness launched the album’s lead single, “Biker Babe,” featuring his signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and sunlit guitar melodies reminiscent of nostalgic summer drives. Inspired by a fleeting romance with an American girl in the 90s, McGuinness revealed that “Biker Babe” holds personal significance. Additionally, he debuted another track, “Babydoll White,” a nod to his deep house project, Fingerprint. Originally recorded in the 90s, McGuinness remixed the unreleased rock single for Anjunadeep in 2020, preserving its authentic 90s sound with assistance from Bob Bradley.
