No matter which part of the world you travel to, the one thing that remains constant is the need for sanitization. When we plan day trips or holidays to remote destinations, our research work would be incomplete if we forget to check out on the availability of restrooms.

Organizers of concerts, carnivals, festivals, and other such events that attract large crowds will ensure that restroom facilities are made available for all those who visit. Fortunately, Portalet Rentals are now readily available, and if you are looking to rent out a portalet, then you may search here.

What is a portalet?

A portalet is a portable or mobile toilet that can be moved from one place to another. They may require some mechanical equipment such as a truck or crane to be moved. Most portalets do not have any pre-requirements of sewage of drainage facilities as they are usually fully self-contained.

Portable toilets are required in many places and situations, such as at festivals, campsites, boats, film shootings, concerts, campsites, and urban slums of developing countries. Portalets can be outright bought or rented out by companies and organizers, depending on their requirements.

How does a Portalet work?

A Portalet is made of a lightweight plastic sheet, usually polyethylene, which makes the actual toilet and the cabin it is contained. The unit also includes a pump and holding tank, which make up the portable sewage system. In some cases, the unit may be attached to an outside water connection, in which case running water will be available. If not, the holding tank will contain bio-degradable chemicals to byproducts until they are safely disposed of as per the government outlined rules and regulations.

What are the different kinds of Portalets available for rent?

  1. Standard Portable Toilet- This is the simplest and most basic option available and is most commonly rented out when a large number is required. They are often seen at concerts, festivals, and construction sites.
  2. ADA Accessible Portable Toilet – These are handicapped accessible toilets similar to the standard ones but are larger and wider to accommodate the requirements of a physically challenged individual.
  3. Portable toilet with sink- These toilets are seen in places with access to running water, in which case a sink may be fitted inside the toilet unit. Soap, paper towels may also be provided.
  4. Portable toilet with a baby changing station- These toilets may be slightly bigger and wider to accommodate a folding baby changing table.
  5.  Flushable Portable Toilet- This Portable toilet comes with a flushable toilet and a holding tank. These are more common at weddings and other private events.

What is a septic tank?

A septic tank is ideally located underground and is made of concrete, fiberglass, or plastic. Domestic water waste and other human byproducts flow into this tank from where it can be disposed safely. They are a simple onsite sewage system.

What is the purpose of a septic tank?

The primary purpose of a septic tank is to hold the wastewater long enough for the solid particles to settle down, forming sludge and for the oil and grease to float on top to form scum.

Septic tanks are usually connected to the indoor plumbing of houses, and it treats the wastewater that comes from bathrooms, kitchen drains, and laundry.

The liquid wastewater known as effluent is separated from the solid waste and flows through pipes into drain-fields.

The drain-fields are created in unsaturated soil. The wastewater penetrates the porous surface of the ground and enters the earth below, where the soil treats it and then finally adds to the existing groundwater.

When wastewater percolates into the soil, harmful bacteria, viruses and germs are naturally neutralized.

Septic tanks need to be periodically serviced and cleaned. If the septic tank is not cleaned out, the solids from the wastewater will continue to pile up on the top, and the tank's holding capacity will be reduced. The solid buildup will clog the drain pipes, which will cause a backflow of water into the pipes of the houses or buildings.
