Name: Sushant Srivastava
Profession: Student
Age: 22 years
Height: 5 feet 11 inches
City: Mysore, Karnataka
Maximum weight recorded: 115 kg
Weight loss: 37 kg
Duration I began to lose weight: 1 year
Confluence: I was always aware that I was overweight but I didn’t actually do anything about it. I should have focused on the minimum in my diet, but I struggled with my weight and didn’t even bother to change my lifestyle a bit. However, there came a time when I slowly realized that I needed to get out of my comfort zone and get back in shape. All the people in my life were following my inconsistent advice on how to lose weight. I decided to prove them wrong and get back in shape!
My breakfast: Usually. I have a cup of black coffee in the morning. However, on the days when I feel really hungry, I have a bowl of oats and 4 egg whites (boiled)
My lunch: .4 chapati, a bowl of pulses and a portion of green vegetables
My dinner: 4 chapatis with scrambled eggs (4 egg whites and 2 whole eggs), or 200–250 grams of fried chicken
Pre-workout meal: Bullet coffee
Post-Workout Meals: Homemade Protein Smoothie
I’m involved: I like to take this weekly chit meal to boost your metabolism and prevent any feeling of deprivation. Taking a break and engaging in what you like not only improves your ability to lose weight but also helps you stick to your diet plan.
My practice: I have no one to guide me except a few friends, so most of the time I rely on online tutorials for practice. My workouts include weight training, HIIT and my favourite CrossFit.
I will give low-calorie recipes: grilled chicken, oats and Greek yoghurt
Fitness secrets I’ve uncovered: You can’t expect results overnight and it’s an idea that still struggles to understand. It takes hard work, consistent effort, a balanced nutrition program and above all ‘takes time’ at the end of the day, resulting in having a consistent and sustainable fitness routine.
How will I be inspired? Most people fail at their fitness goals because they are waiting for something magical to happen while looking for weight loss. Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. In fact, it is not even a linear process, sometimes you lose something, gain a little and repeat the process over and over again.
How do you make sure you don’t lose focus? Whenever I feel like I’m losing my own fist I take a look at how far I’ve come and how hard I’ve worked for my current body. I realize I don’t want to ruin it all. That in itself is enough to keep me focused and motivated.
What is the hardest part of being overweight? This, of course, reduced self-esteem and concerns.
What size do you see yourself under 10? I want to live a healthy life and wish for a super fit body.
What are the changes in your lifestyle? In addition to eating healthy, it is important to eat the right amount. It is important to understand that weight loss is about replacing your unhealthy desires with the right foods. I made fitness a part of my daily routine and started drinking 3 litres of water per day.
What was the lowest point for you? In the classroom, I’ve always struggled with a lot of body shame as I grew up being a “fat kid”. As a result, many of my friends didn’t grow up and it was really heartbreaking.
Lessons to learn from weight loss: The small steps you take during your weight loss journey can actually make a significant difference. Since nothing really happens overnight, we often underestimate the amount of time it takes to notice certain changes in our bodies. Everyone has a certain type of body and you should not compare yourself to others.
