A New Beginning! A Look Back at the Most Inspiring Success Stories from the ‘My 600-Lb Life' Program

There is no gain without pain. With its dramatic episodes, My 600-Lb Life has captivated audiences, showcasing the genuine lives of morbidly obese people who are devoted to losing weight. Every person sets out on their own fitness journey in the goal of becoming healthier, more self-reliant, and the greatest version of themselves. On the show, there have been many spectacular weight reduction transformations over the years.

As fans are aware, the contestants must adhere to the advice of renowned surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan in order to achieve their objectives. Most patients must follow his stringent 1200-calorie diet plan in order to be accepted for high-risk gastric bypass surgery. That means they'll have to fight their food addictions while adhering to his low-carb, low-fat, high-protein diet, which won't be easy.

Dr. Now previously explained why he uses a "tough love" approach with the people he treats, citing the fact that it's "difficult" for people to lose weight.

“Working with those individuals who can be self-destructive is a daily challenge,” he told People. “My duty isn't to get irritated, but to find a way to inspire people to work hard in order to achieve their objectives. There are moments when I believe some tough love is required, and I need to be firm with them, so I express my concern and frustration.”

“Severe obesity is a multi-faceted physical and psychological disorder with numerous factors. The largest barrier to change with patients is not comprehending how much of their struggle is psychological, not just physical,” he noted. “Many refuse to acknowledge that they have emotional compulsions or compulsive psychiatric problems that cause them to binge.”

The renowned bariatric doctor also discussed how they were able to achieve their goals.

“We have our best window to get them to realize that and address those issues that will lead to long-term success for them once we remove the physical compulsion to eat with weight loss surgery,” the TV personality stated.
