Welcome The Year Of The Tiger In Style With Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada And More - 5 minutes read

With Chinese New Year approaching, many fashion brands have released a limited-edition collection to commemorate the festive season and the arrival of the new zodiac sign, the Year of the Tiger. Brands like Dior, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana have definitely nailed the assignment with their tiger-print collection, as it is believed that wearing new clothing at the start of the new year can bring in good luck. Prada and Bottega Veneta, for example, tapped into auspicious colors like red and orange. Following is a list of brands from which you can draw fashion inspiration.

Gucci

Since creative director Alessandro Michele took over as creative director of Gucci, the tiger has been a mainstay of the brand. Gucci has released its “Gucci Tiger” collection for this year’s Chinese New Year. Various interpretations of the stately animal are featured on the ready-to-wear and accessories, which are set against a reinterpretation of Vittorio Accornero’s 1960s archival floral prints. Models wearing items from the new collection, such as the tan “GG” print sports jacket with contrasting Gucci-navy red and white sleeves and cuffs, are also featured in the campaign images. A tan leather handbag with a “GG” print overlay and a red “Gucci Tiger” emblazoned across the front is also shown.

The “Gucci Tiger” collection can be found here on the Gucci website.

To commemorate the Lunar New Year, the Milan-based fashion house has released a capsule collection that includes items from its Linea Rossa line, which features the colors red, black, and white, as well as a donation to China Green Foundation’s “Walking with Tiger and Leopard” program. The goal is to aid in the conservation of the critically endangered Amur Tiger. The brand has enlisted the help of two well-known faces from the entertainment industry for this campaign: actor and singer Li Yifeng and actress Chun Xia. Both are dressed in Prada sportswear with a red accent.

Dior has teamed up with painter Kenny Scharf once again for the men’s collection. To celebrate the Year of the Tiger — specifically, the Water Tiger — the artist reimagined the feline in a cartoonish form. The tiger motif can be found on shirts as a print, embroidered on knitwear, or as a denim patch. The star of the new year also makes an appearance on the men’s jewelry and the brand’s B27 sneakers.

The Dior Women’s Chinese New Year capsule collection celebrates the return of spring, rather than the traditional tiger motif. Flowers and butterflies in Monsieur Dior’s favorite shade of red adorn the poetic design. The lovely creature can be found on the Lady Dior, Saddle, and Book Tote bags. Butterfly and floral motifs adorn the ready-to-wear collection as well.

The iconic Bottega green is replaced by an orange hue in the Italian luxury fashion house’s Chinese New Year collection this year. Bottega Veneta‘s Cassette intrecciato leather bag, for example, is spotted with a subtle tiger pattern in a subtle move. The brand’s other products are colored in various shades of orange.

The tiger’s stripes, which first appeared as the opening look for its Haute Couture Fall/Winter 1967-68 collection, have now made their way into this year’s Chinese New Year collection. Shorts, hoodies, and Valentino Garavani accessories like bucket hats and rockstud bags all feature the motif. Cheng Xiao appears in the campaign, carrying the Valentino Garavani Loc bag, while Zhou Zilin wears a Roman Stud handle bag.

The collection will be available in a limited number of Valentino boutiques around the world, including Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Westfield Sydney in Australia, and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Dolce & Gabbana

The tiger, according to Chinese legend, is the king of the jungle, a symbol of strength and bravery. It has also been linked to prosperity and peace. Dolce & Gabbana pays homage to the feline with a special collection to encapsulate these qualities. A collection of new prints with a contemporary and dynamic feel have been chosen, and they’ve been rendered in a vibrant color palette that evokes the tiger’s natural habitat. Exquisite drawings of tigers with their noble and fierce appearance are translated onto clothes, bags, shoes, and other accessories across the men’s, women’s, and children’s lines. This tiger-print collection will undoubtedly be a must-have for Chinese New Year.

The collection can be purchased both online and in stores.
