Sophie Macintosh depicts Ava as a privileged university student who sets off on a weekend getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with her friends. Unfortunately, their plane experiences a serious problem and crashes into the sea, forcing Ava and a select few passengers to fend off sharks in order to stay alive. The plot unfolds in a direct manner, with the survivors working to free themselves from their underwater prison and make it to the surface. However, each step forward is met with challenges or new obstacles, maintaining a sense of suspense despite its predictability.
