The long-awaited collaboration between Above & Beyond and Mat Zo, “Always Do”, has finally been released. “Always Do”, which was first performed at Group Therapy 450 in London last summer, combines Mat Zo’s underground, warehouse-ready sound with Above & Beyond’s house-based trance beats. Mat Zo remixed A&B’s “Thing Called Love” in 2012, but “Always Do” is the first official collaboration between the two. This is not the A&B you’re used to, with distorted vocals and acid-laden basslines.

Without a doubt, the presence of Mat Zo contributes to this being delectable underground club music. It’s like a turbocharged version of the ice levels in Super Mario 64. Every synth note and drum beat hits you exactly where you need it to. Despite the fact that this is an after-hours track, it is very upbeat. The year 2022 looks to be a busy one for the venerable dance music trio.

Above & Beyond will be performing at Beyond Wonderland in Southern California on March 26. Mat Zo will take the stage at upcoming Anjunabeats events in Miami and London. He’ll also be at A&B’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge in Washington in July.
