Virgil Abloh Was Honored At Paris Fashion Week 2022 - 2 minutes read
Fashion month has come to an end after a marathon of shows and lookbook releases. The Fall 2022 Paris Fashion Week was a sight to behold. It’s all thanks to designers who have shown greater creativity and tenacity than ever before. The first stop was Off-White, where Virgil Abloh was honored by the in-house design team and a celebrity cast.
Maria Grazia Chiuri debuted her most daring collection for Christian Dior to date. Anthony Vaccarello layered dresses with strong-shouldered faux fur coats and killer heels at Saint Laurent. Gabriela Hearst gave us chic tailoring, hiking boots, and recycled cashmere ponchos via Chloe, while Olivier Rousteing mixed some of Balmain‘s earliest codes with protective gear. At Loewe’s spectacular show, Jonathan Anderson stimulated our senses with leather, felt, latex, 3-D-printed fiber, and sophisticated design motifs.
Balenciaga was undoubtedly the hottest ticket in town, with Demna Gvasalia dedicating the collection to fearlessness, resistance, and the triumph of love and peace in solidarity with Ukraine. Valentino chose neon pink as his main color. Nicolas Ghesquière’s Louis Vuitton show was held at the magnificent Musée d’Orsay, rather than its usual location, as all of his muses seated in the front row digested the mix of suiting, dresses, and knitwear. The entire Chanel show was based on tweed, as Virginie Viard was inspired by England in the 1960s. According to Miuccia Prada, barely-there miniskirts are here to stay. She also gave us Miu Miu micro shorts to finish off the week in style.
