The Chemical Brothers, Flume, James Blake And Others Will Perform At The Inaugural Portola Music... - 2 minutes read
Coachella is almost over, but Goldenvoice continues to release big, individually selected lineups that make us want to keep going to gigs all year. The most recent is a new initiative called Portola, which is located on Pier 80 in San Francisco, and the artist lineup is just stunning.
Flume and The Chemical Brothers will headline the two-day festival, which will take place September 24-25, with appearances from Kaytranada, Jamie xx, Fred Again.., James Blake, M.I.A., Lane 8, Four Tet + Floating Points, Caroline Polachek, Bicep (Live), Ben Böhmer, Fatboy Slim, DJ Shadow, and others.
Portola, presented by Goldenvoice and the brainchild of Goldenvoice VP Talent Buyer Danny Bell, strives to embrace artists from all genres of dance/indie/hip-hop/progressive music. “This is the event I’ve wanted to host for the past decade,” Bell says. San Francisco is the ideal location, and the timing is ideal! This September, let’s dance and have a good time!”
The festival’s name is an homage to the Portola Festival of 1909, which celebrated the re-opening of San Francisco three years after the 1906 earthquake devastated the city. It was created to inform the world that San Francisco had reopened and was ready to welcome travelers. This new event embodies that idea, inviting music aficionados of all genres to attend and explore.
