SEMA Student Build: 2004 Jeep Wrangler to Benefit High School Auto Shops (Michigan) for sale on BaT Auctions - ending July 23 (Lot #21,142)

This 2004 Jeep Wrangler has been significantly modified by the students of Comstock High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan as part of the SEMA High School Vehicle Build Program. Aftermarket companies supported the build and the program’s mission by donating an extensive list of products to the school making this a one of a kind customized Jeep. This truck features its original 4.0L 6-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. This is one of five such Jeeps that SEMA is auctioning on BaT this week at no reserve. Proceeds from the sale of these vehicles will be reinvested back into the SEMA program to fund the purchase of more vehicles to support another round of builds in the following school year—making this a self-sustaining program. BaT will also be donating their entire buyer fee to the SEMA High School Vehicle Build Program for each of these five Jeeps. Program Overview The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) High School Vehicle Build Program supports the association’s initiative to engage more young people in the automotive aftermarket. Through this program, high school automotive shop classes are introduced to specialty-equipment manufacturers’ products to build one-of-a-kind customized vehicles. Funded by SEMA, this program offers students real-world, hands-on auto-tech skills while becoming engaged in the accessorization and customization lifestyle. This accessorization project focuses on suspension, wheels and tires, and interior and exterior accessories. With the guidance and instruction of their auto shop instructors, students customized the vehicles using donated aftermarket products from partnering sponsor companies. Proceeds from the sale of these vehicles will be reinvested back into the program to fund the purchase of more vehicles to support another round of builds in the following school year—making this a self-sustaining program. It’s SEMA’s vision that the expansion of this program will reach thousands of high school automotive shop class students nationwide. The purchase of this vehicle is not tax-deductible.

Comstock High School The Comstock Automotive Technology program is a 2.5-year class held at Comstock High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The program consists of three courses and teaches ASE Education Foundation standards to instill skills such as fundamentals of automotive service; maintenance; and repair, including engine repair, fuel systems, electrical, electronics, steering, suspension and braking systems. The auto shop program is part of an education consortium called Education for Employment (EFE) where they are able to invite students from other local high schools into their program. There are typically 90-100 students from grades 9-12 each year who participate in the auto tech program. Comstock High School students customized a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sahara as part of the 2019 SEMA High School Vehicle Build. Proceeds from the sale of this vehicle will go towards funding another build in the following school year.

The whole body exterior received new paint and the hard top has been painted to match the body color.

A safety check was performed by 3rd party repair shop after the conclusion of the build project. The jeep has had a safety inspection, new brakes installed on all four wheels, an engine oil change and rear differential oil change, and other fluids topped off as needed.

The truck is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan and has a clean California title under Specialty Equipment Market Association.

SEMA has made the opportunity to support the mission of the high school vehicle program available through accepting contributions to the program’s general fund.
