100 Thieves Raises $35 Million to Rapidly Grow Lifestyle Brand
Drake‘s 100 Thieves, a Los Angeles, CA-based esports franchise founded by former Call of Duty world champion and YouTube creator Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag is aiming to grows itself as a lifestyle brand. The company that has several esports teams competing in the industries biggest events including League of Legends, Fortnite and Call of Duty alongside a rapidly sold out apparel store, 100 Thieves has their sights on expansion after landing a $35 million series B.
Artist Capital Management, the New York-based growth investment firm, has led the $35 million round and will include a new investment from Aglaé Ventures, the technology investment firm of Groupe Arnault, controlling shareholder of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH).
“This past year has been a massive success for 100 Thieves. Our esports teams are winning championships, our apparel is selling out, and our podcasts have topped the charts,” says Haag. “Artist Capital Management saw our vision and our progress and has stepped up to support us. We now have everything we need to be the biggest gaming & esports brand in the world.”
With the new capital, 100 Thieves plans to continue its vision of aggressive expansion in the competitive esports, developing new gaming entertainment content, and the apparel market. Not only is 100 Thieves aiming to dominate the LCS, they’re also building a lifestyle brand that extends beyond the realm of e-sports. To do so, the LA-based company has announced the development of a new 15,000 square foot headquarters. Located in La-La Land, this new facility will house the company’s entire operation – including esports practice facilities, streaming stations, a content production soundstage, and an apparel development workshop.
The space will also double as a retail storefront for the brand’s upcoming apparel drops, which already sell out rapidly on their online site and has a growing presence on the popular resale marketplace, StockX. Both brands have also partnered together to outfit the entire 100 Thieves team with Yeezys as well as a giveway a year ago.
In the same year, the team announced a $25M Series A funding round in October 2018, which included investments from Drake and entrepreneur and music manager Scooter Braun. All together, 100 Thieves has now raised $60M in external funding.
Now with LVMH as a close neighbor, thanks to the series B, it’s skies the limit for what 100 Thieves does next.
