Vikings, GM Spielman reach multiyear extension - 1 minute read
The Minnesota Vikings and general manager Rick Spielman have agreed to a multiyear extension, the team announced Monday.
The contract extension comes after the Vikings and coach Mike Zimmer agreed to a multiyear extension last month.
Terms of Spielman's extension were not disclosed.
"Rick has been outstanding in his role as Vikings general manager," Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf said in a statement. "We are excited and honored to have him continue to lead our efforts to build a championship roster and first-class organization. With Rick's and Coach Zimmer's leadership in place, we are in a great position to continue to compete for a Super Bowl."
The Vikings have gone 57-38-1 in the six seasons with Spielman and Zimmer in control.
During that time the Vikings have won two NFC North titles and have advanced to the postseason three times, including 2017 when Minnesota reached the NFC Championship Game.
This season will be Spielman's 20th season with the Vikings and his ninth as the team's general manager.
