Charity In Place of War launches climate-focused Earthsonic label - 2 minutes read
In Place of War is a charity that has spent the last 20 years focusing on using the arts to bring change in countries experiencing conflict. Its latest project is focused on the climate emergency and music. It’s a label called Earthsonic, which will also build a sound archive and run a series of events.
The label’s ambition is to be run as a carbon-free operation, with its first album coming out in October. The sound archive will house audio “recorded by scientists, nature sound recordists, indigenous communities, and others” while its series of events will combine music and climate activism.
“This is a huge and ambitious project, which has many partners, all co curating and creating together to produce collaborative music, immersing people in the story of our planet and inspiring action around six changes we can make in our lives to help preserve the planet, its species and landscapes and ultimately humanity itself,” said founder Ruth Daniel.
Partners already signed up include A2IM, AFEM, BBC, Beatport, The Outernet, PRS Foundation, Roland and Resident Advisor (RA).
