In general, Samsung has a reputation for producing SSDs that offer excellent performance, durability, and reliability.

That said, like any electronic device, SSDs can potentially experience failures or issues. While Samsung SSDs have a broadly reliable track record, it's always a good idea to back up your data regularly and take precautions to safeguard important files, regardless of the brand or model of your SSD.

What is the lifespan of a Samsung SSD?

The lifespan of a Samsung SSD can vary depending on several factors, including the specific model and your use case for it. In general, you can expect a Samsung SSD to last at least three to five years, and often much longer.

Most Samsung SSDs come with a warranty that covers a certain number of years or terabytes written (TBW). The TBW rating indicates the total amount of data that Samsung expects could be written to the SSD before it reaches its endurance limit. Different Samsung SSD models have different TBW ratings, which can range from tens of terabytes to hundreds of terabytes.

TBW estimates aside, the actual lifespan of your SSD will depend on how you use it. Factors like the frequency and intensity of your data writing, the types of data written, and the drive's operating conditions can impact the lifespan of an SSD.
