Amazon/Zooey Liao/CNET

Buying a new TV can be costly, so it's always wise to wait for a solid deal. Amazon's October Prime Day ended yesterday, but there are still plenty of deals on the best TV brands like Samsung, LG and Sony. And when we say these deals are good, we're talking up to $2,000 off. That leaves extra money in your pocket for a little treat like a fun deal under $25. Just make sure you cash in before these deals expire or run out of stock.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

Note that some Amazon discounts are exclusive to Prime members, but you can find other fall deals at competing retailers like Best Buy and Walmart.

This Sony TV is on the pricier side but that's to be expected for a Sony with our favorite picture-enhancing extra for LED TVs: a full-array local dimming backlight, which should help it deliver an excellent picture. The TV also has HDR and Dolby Vision support, gaming features and HDMI 2.1. It's now at the same price we saw it go at last Black Friday, and this is a pretty great price for this TV.

How we choose the best Prime Day TV deals

Many of us at CNET have covered shopping events like Black Friday, Prime Day, Memorial Day and countless others for several years. In that time, we've learned how to spot the best deals among a sea of thousands of superficial offers and scams. We surface only the best offers from trusted retailers. When choosing television deals to show you, we look for real discounts, quality reviews and remaining sale time.

Real discounts mean genuine savings. We check pricing history for products listed as on sale, so we know when it's a case of an inflated list price rather than an actual discount. Quality reviews and testing are super important for any product. A discount isn't worthwhile if it results in a subpar product experience, no matter how much you saved. Remaining sale time is important, too. Some deals are around for only a short time or may be limited in supply. If that's the case, we'll let you know upfront so you don't come back to the deal later only to be disappointed.  Are Prime Day TV deals worth shopping?

October Prime Day basically kicks off the fall shopping with hundreds of deals in a variety of categories, especially TVs. These deals are some of the lowest you'll see until Black Friday. Prime Day is now officially over, so once the above deals begin to dry up it's probably worth holding out until Black Friday next month to nab a TV if you can wait.

How do October Prime Day TV deals compare to Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals?

For the last few years, October Prime Day -- or Prime Big Deal Days, as it's officially known -- has acted as a catalyst for the fall shopping season that culminates with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Due to its proximity, many of the best TV sales will start during Prime Day and run through the end of November. If you can wait until Black Friday, you will probably see more deals total on TVs as retailers make room for new TV sets that tend to come out in January. The gulf in discounts isn't much to write home about, and many of Black Friday's best TV deals tend to be extremely limited in terms of both time and supply. If you've been looking for a new TV and see something you like and that is within your budget, pick it up during Prime Day sales and avoid the November rush.
