How to Earn $1,500 Reviewing Skincare Products - 3 minutes read
Skincare products can be hit-or-miss. A quick Google search will reveal plenty of negative reviews for “cult favorites” that supposedly work for everyone (but obviously don’t, because there are so many different skin types).
As a result, finding products that work for you tends to be a process of trial-and-error, leaving you with at least a few unused lotions or serums tucked away somewhere in your bathroom. Now, one beauty company wants to pay someone to try, assess, and write reviews of their products. Here’s what to know about taking on the role of Product Quality Executive.
What does the job entail?
The position is for Product Quality Executive at a company called Herbal Dynamics Beauty. Unlike many of these dream job contests, this one requires putting actual time and effort into the role—in other words, it’s not a situation where they send you some lotions and the cash and you post about it once on Insta and then call it a day.
According to the job listing, the successful candidate, “will be responsible for keeping a thorough photograph and written daily journal of their skin, as well as provide an in-depth review of each of each product they test.”
The remote position is expected to take five hours each week for three months. While five hours per week usually works out to approximately 20 hours per month, there is a question on the application asking if person is able to commit to working 30 hours per month. (We’re not sure what that’s about, but figured we’d flag it.) On an hourly basis, that works out to about $16.66, so better than minimum wage even if you happen to live somewhere with a $15 minimum wage.
Once chosen, the new employee will select a variety of Herbal Dynamics Beauty products (valued at up to $500) they’d like to try. (The company can also make suggestions based on the person’s skin type, if they are unsure.) Herbal Dynamics will then ship out the products, ensuring that, “all deliveries will be conducted under COVID-safe guidelines.”
In addition to earning $1,500 for their work, the selected candidate will be able to keep all of the products after the gig has ended.
Who is eligible?
Want to throw your hat in the ring? The successful candidate:
Must have a professional demeanor, and access to a camera of at least 12 megapixels
Know their way around skincare products
Agree to only use the Herbal Dynamics products throughout the three months of the review process
Cannot be affiliated with another skincare brand
Additionally, the company recommends people with severe medical skincare issues that need prescription treatment, or any known allergies to skincare ingredients, sit this one out.
To apply, fill out the application form here (scroll down a bit), which includes telling the company a bit about why you’re the ideal person for the job. The deadline to apply is March 30th, 2021.
