Insider started out as a tech and business blog called Silicon Alley Insider back in 2007. Since then, the site has covered tech from a variety of angles, including tech company business news, tech product launch news, and tech product reviews. The Insider Reviews tech team tests and reviews tech products across all categories, including computers, phones, wearables, speakers, headphones, smart home devices, and tech accessories.
What types of tech products we test
Laptops and PCs: We test laptops, desktop PCs, tablets and other computing accessories and products from a wide range of brands, including Apple, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Samsung, Razer, Logitech, and more.
Smartphones: Our reporters review and test smartphones across all price points and brands, including Apple's iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy lineup, Google's Pixel phones, and more. We also review top mobile accessories and phone cases from Otterbox, Incipio, Speck, and other popular brands.
Smartwatches and wearables: Smartwatches and wearables have taken over the tech world over the past decade. We review wearables like the Fitbit lineup, Apple Watch, Samsung's watches, and more.
TVs: TVs are major tech purchases, so we carefully evaluate and vet every TV we recommend. We test models for all budgets, from entry-level TVs to OLED TVs, across all the major brands, including Sony, LG, Samsung, Vizio, and more.
Speakers and headphones: Audio products range from smart speakers and Bluetooth speakers to soundbars and wireless earbuds. We test speakers, home theater systems, and headphones from top brands like the Amazon Echo, Google Nest, Sony, Bose, Beats, Sennheiser, and more.
Apple products: Apple's MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, and other devices are among the most popular tech devices on the planet. Our senior tech correspondent is an expert in all things Apple and reviews the latest models.
Gaming products: Whether you prefer gaming with a PC, Xbox, Nintendo, or PlayStation, we cover all the best gaming consoles, video games, and gaming accessories. Our tech team is full of enthusiastic gamers who have strong opinions about the best gaming gear.

How we test tech products
We test tech products by using them every day in the real world. We develop original testing methods, like battery life tests, and use tech industry-standard benchmarks like Geekbench to evaluate every tech product that crosses our desks. We play hours of games on the latest consoles and gaming PCs, we do intensive photo shootouts between top smartphones, we put smartwatches and ourselves through the paces, and we work on laptops to make sure they can get the job done. After we test every tech product, we think about its place in the larger tech product market and compare it to the competition to ensure that every recommendation is accurate, fair, and considers all of your options.
